====== How to setup Outlook 2016 with GEN's Next Generation Email Systems (DAKOTA & ANDROMEDA) ====== ===== IMPORTANT: In these instructions we'll be using dakota (dakota.gen.net.uk) but if your configuration build shows andromeda then substitute andromeda.gen.net.uk for dakota.gen.net.uk ===== * Open Microsoft Outlook 2016 and click File in the menu. * Under Account Information, click + Add Account. * Select Manual setup or additional server types and click Next. * Select IMAP and click Next. * Enter the user,server and logon information. * Select the account type: IMAP. **USER INFORMATION** * Your Name: The name you want displayed on outgoing emails * Email Address: The complete email address that you are setting up **SERVER INFORMATION** * Account type: IMAP * Incoming mail server: dakota.gen.net.uk * Outgoing mail server: dakota.gen.net.uk **LOGIN INFORMATION** User Name: This is in the format as exactly shown on the ticket. It will be address.company. Password: The password as exactly specified on the ticket. Require login using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) **Do not tick**. ====== Click More settings... ====== Under the Outgoing mail server tab, check the box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Select the menu item Use same settings as my incoming mail server. ====== Now switch to the Advanced tab. ====== Insert the data below for the incoming and outgoing mail servers. **SERVER PORT NUMBERS** * Incoming Server (IMAP) 993 Select the connection type SSL/TLS in the drop-down menu * Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) 25 Select the connection type STARTTLS in the drop-down menu ====== Back at the IMAP Accounts Settings screen, click Next, and then Finish. ======
